Johnny,
I hate to tell you this, but you can't "win" an argument with a JW.

looks like i'll be having a bachelor weekend as my beck is going out of town on a 'consolation prize' vacation with her mom.. see, her mom tried inviting herself along on out trip up north to stay in the dome, and we put the kibosh on that!.
but they had to offer her something, so i was beck and her sister rosie taking their mom to wisconsin dells this weekend.. i got my truck, my scooter is fixed, i'm at my lowest weight since starting my diet and feel great (except for a bit of a cold), the upside is i can do anything i want!.
the downside: no beck.. i think friday night i'll go to the best asian resteraunt in the known universe in no.
RollerDave, you're coming to the meetup? Cool, can't wait to meet ya buddy.

Just because you're asked to read, doesn't mean you have to.

how about this as an anthem for those of us exjws????!!!!.
artist(band):diana ross.
(mchael masser/c.
I always thought "Its My Life" by Bon Jovi was a good exJW anthem, the verse about It's my life/its now or never/cause I ain't gonna live forever... kinda sums up how I felt after realizing the whole "paradise erf" thing was a bunch of BS.
I'm still working on the I just wanna live while I'm alive part...

jws today are not like the ones i knew when i was growing up.
we used to look down upon those that didn't make all of the meetings and regularly go out in service every weekend!
if someone was not in the theocratic ministry school----what was wrong with them???
The old style JWs sound like people under military discipline did they at least have any more fraternal love and solidarity? It doesn't seem to be that way.
Actually I think they did. For one thing, they were actually allowed to have social gatherings. You have to realize that they were excited about being in a so-called worldwide brotherhood. Most of them were converts to the JW religion and were probably much more happy as a JW, than today's 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation JW who are JW mainly because their family is, and so they trudge along, obediently but abject, doing what is required of them. They don't know why, they just know that they have been told this is the best way of life, and that pursuing anything else will only lead to ruin and misery.

the whole i-35w bridge fell into the mississippi river!
cars and trucks in the river.
Ok Bec and Jo both just checked in, they're fine.
Bec is telling me she drove over the bridge about a half hour before the collapse, but she's fine, although she is stuck in the huge traffic mess over there.

Apparently there were 60 kids on that school bus, amazingly they all got out, a few with some injuries, but still amazing.
Gopher, I have IMed Jo and Becky, haven't heard back.

Yeah I just tried calling Eyegirl, all I got was her voice mail. Hopefully she was nowhere near there. And we're supposed to be staying off the cell phones, I don't have a land line.

Another Minneapolis poster checking in.
Absolutely unbelievable. Still nothing on what would cause this. The construction work going on at the time was mainly resurfacing, no major repairs. It may turn out to be fortunate, that because of the repair work project, the highway had only one lane open.
Just saw an interview with a woman who was in a car on the bridge, a semi demolished her car, but she and her 3 month old baby got out without a scratch.
